Hash Generator (SHA-256)
Calculate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of text in your browser.
🔒 Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
How to use it
Type or paste text and the hashes update instantly, computed with your browser’s built-in Web Crypto API on the UTF-8 bytes of the text. A tiny change in the input gives a completely different hash.
SHA-1 is shown for checking older checksums only; it is no longer considered secure. MD5 is not offered for the same reason.
FAQ
Can a hash be reversed?
No. Hashes are one-way, but short or common inputs can be found by guessing, so never rely on a plain hash to protect passwords.
What is the SHA-256 of "abc"?
ba7816bf8f01cfea414140de5dae2223b00361a396177a9cb410ff61f20015ad, the standard test value from the SHA-2 specification.
